About Us

Who We Are

The New Generation Greening Africa Organization is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization established in February 2019 in Canada and legally registered in Ethiopia in 2021.

The New Generation Greening Africa Organization was established by five Ethiopians and other nationals who are deeply committed to, and with proven track record in environmental protection in  Ethiopia and in the rest of the world.

Before its registration in Ethiopia, the founders were engaged in various charitable initiatives in Ethiopia, particularly in reforestation, environmental protection, education and awareness creation about the environment, job creation for youths, and various community-based initiatives.

Governance

The New Generation Greening Africa Organization is a membership-based organization, where the members constitute the General Assembly, which is the highest decision-making organ.

Greening Africa has a five-person Board of Directors, who are elected by the General Assembly to provide strategic direction, oversight and monitoring this organization’s overall activities and impact.

The day day-to-day operation is carried out by staff of the organization, including the Coordinator of The New Generation Greening Africa Organization.

The New Generation Greening Africa Organization gets its funding from members’ and volunteers’ contribution, donations and grants. The fund management is governed in compliance with its bylaw, host country legal requirements and international standards.

Our Mission

To inspire, educate, and raise awareness in different communities in Ethiopia about the merits of environmental protection while implementing various interventions focused on the environment and greening.

Our Vision

To become one of the top ten local non-governmental organisations engaged in environmental protection in terms of impact, reachability and effectiveness of service delivery by 2030.

Objectives

The overall objective of The New Generation Greening Africa Organization is to establish a culture of environmental protection and restoration of Africa’s forests, Ethiopia’s in particular, from the current trend of deforestation, while working hand-in-hand with governments local communities and progressive civil society.

We aim to provide fitting and locally relevant solutions to this emerging global crisis and how it should and must be prevented from escalating in the long term.

In particular, we seek to:

  • Achieve sustainable environmental conservation and protection by reversing the current trend of deforestation.
  • Generate employment and income opportunities to unemployed people, especially women and youths.
  • Advocate for conducive and sustainable legal and policy frameworks in natural resources management to correct structural and systemic issues.

Our activities to achieve our objectives include:-

  • Mobilizing resources to fund massive tree planting projects.
  • Educate members, right holders, and the local community members on planting, caring for, and sustainable use of trees.
  • Advocacy through workshops, conferences and innovative communications tools.
  • Active participation in various development activities of communities in project areas.
  • Networking with environmental organizations.
  • Regular meetings with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Implement aggressive expansion of our membership base.
